McLaren 570GT

McLaren has always been about pushing the automotive technology to its peak. It has continued to improve sports car technology to create truly inspirational cars. It has even taken a step into the hypercar hybrids with the McLaren P1 that could revolutionise and redefine he automotive industry. With its Sport Series, McLaren are aiming to produce top of the level sports cars that comes in with 3.8-litre V8 mid-mounted engines. The McLaren 570GT is one such car.

The sports coupe is designed to be completely driver focused with performance kept as a top priority. You can thrash it around a race track, but also easily use it as a day to day car (sort of). It is after all designed for the romantic notion of Gran Tourismo or Grand Touring across continents.

This McLaren is known as the “baby” McLaren because it is the smallest car McLaren makes. Don’t, however, believe this car is a lightweight. It may be one level up from the entry level 570S, but it comes with a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine.

If that doesn’t sound impressive, then the 562 bhp and 443lb ft of torque should. You may remember the legendary McLaren F1 road car. Well, the 570GT records similar acceleration times. It sprints from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and from 0-124 mph in 9.8 seconds.

Top speed in the McLaren 570GT comes out at 204 mph. With regards to fuel economy, don’t be expecting an efficient number. It only delivers close to 26 mpg. But then when you have that acceleration and total speed, why would you care about fuel economy?

The first thing you may notice when you slip inside the 570GT is the panoramic roof. It allows in more light and gives an additional sense of space to the interior. It also allows you to view the beauty of the stars at night (obviously rarely in the UK).

It is when you are sat behind that wheel that you know this car is designed for you, the driver. Some supercars are designed to be speed freaks with fantastic handling and so on, but they lack finesse and simple comfort when driving. The 570GT remembers that a person has to drive this car and so whilst you get the speed and the handling, you also get the comfort.

McLaren have designed the interior to be unclutters and yet elegant. It features a “floating” centre console with its seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. But what you will enjoy the most is the extended sumptuous leather trim. The seats are pretty special too. They are power adjustable to ensure you can get the best possible driving positon for you, but also they are heated seats to ensure you are never cold. They are also memory seats to ensure they always return to your ideal driving position. The steering column is also adjustable.

McLaren have given the 570GT a carbon-fibre chassis with a lightweight aluminium body. This means the car is extremely light, but still impressively controlled. They have mounted that 3.8-litre engine lower to give the car enhanced agility as well. This entire car is designed to be a thoroughbred sports car. It also comes with a 7-speed gearbox that shifts seamlessly, not interrupting your smooth drive at all.

When it comes to driving, the 570GT is smooth and close to silent thanks to the reduced cabin noise through sound absorbing materials in the bulkhead and rear deck. You should be at total ease thanks to how easy it is to control the car, even at speed. As this is a GT car, the 570GT is excellent at cruising. If you do fancy going on twisty roads, you will have so much fun. It offers neutral handling balance so it is entirely your choice what way you wish to drive it and it will warn you if you are pushing it too far. Whilst this car has the potential to kill you, it cars enough to try and stop you many, many times.

If you are looking to buy prestige cars, this McLaren 570GT is an amazing one to consider. It will offer you comfort, fun and possible everyday use. Take it on a long grand touring holiday.
